The behaviour of masonry constructions results to be very far from the one characterizing ductile structures. In masonry constructions, the seismic action activates a rocking motion rather than a dissipating mechanism. A strength resource of masonry structures, properly reinforced in order to avoid early local failures, consists in exhibiting rocking behaviour, until a failure condition is attained. Aim of the paper is to investigate the dynamic behaviour of masonry single storey walls, according to Housner’s studies and innovatively introducing the effect of diagonal cracks developing from the toes of the piers and shown by typical post-earthquake cracking patterns. The proposed procedure can be easily applied to the case of multi-storey regular masonry walls with openings representing the main resistant structural components of a masonry building. Starting from the evaluation of the incipient rocking acceleration of the system, the free and forced motions of the wall are examined. In the paper, according to the classical Housner’s approach, the energy dissipation occurring during the impact is modelled. Finally, a numerical application, considering a simple constant horizontal acceleration impulse of given duration has been carried out.

The assessment of unregulated level of enzyme activity is a crucial parameter for early diagnoses in a wide range of pathologies. In this study, we propose the use of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) as an easy method to probe carboxylesterase (CE) enzymatic activity in vitro. For this application, were synthesized two amphiphilic, nitroxide containing esters, namely Tempo-C12 (T-C12) and Tempo-2-C12 (T-2-C12). They exhibit low solubility in water and form stable micelles in which the radicals are EPR almost silent, but the hydrolysis of the ester bond yields narrows and intense EPR signals. The intensity of the EPR signals is proportional to the enzymatic activity. CEs1, CEs2 and esterase from porcine liver (PLE) were investigated. The obtained results show that T-C12 and T-2-C12-containing systems display a much higher selectivity toward the CEs2, with a Limit of Detection of the same order of those ones obtained with optical methods.  相似文献

Collagen represents one of the most widely used biomaterial for scaffolds fabrication in tissue engineering as it represents the mechanical support of natural tissues. It also provides physical scaffolding for cells and it influences their attachment, growth, and tissue regeneration. Among all fibrillary collagens, type I is considered one of the gold standard for scaffolds fabrication, thanks to its high biocompatibility, biodegradability, and hemostatic properties. It can be extracted by chemical and enzymatic protocols from several collagen‐rich tissues, such as tendon and skin, of different animal species. Both the extraction processes and the manufacturing protocols for scaffolds fabrication provide structural and mechanical changes that can be tuned in order to deeply impact the properties of the final biomaterial. The aim of this review is to discuss the role of X‐rays to study structural changes of type I collagen from fresh collagen‐rich tissues (bovine, equine, fish) to the final scaffolds, with the aim to screen across available collagen sources and scaffolds fabrication protocols to be used in tissue regeneration.  相似文献
